Juice
This afternoon I was getting a glass of diet coke and Anya got very excited yelling..."Daddy's juice! Daddy's juice!" A little funny that Diet Coke is associated with Daddy.

Out for a drive...
Anya's check-up
Anya went in Monday for a check-up on her ears and they look better. She has to take Nasonex (nasal spray) once a day for the next 3 weeks and they should be back to normal. : )

Round 3
Anya had her last round of anitibiotics this morning. Our appt was at 10:30 and we didn't leave the office until 12:15. We had to wait for
5 children to get breathing treatments because they had all been diagnosed with rsv. This time around Anya knew what she was in for. She held her bottom for dear life when the nurse came in to give her a shot. Thankfully, it was quick! Anya has to go back to the doctor on Monday to see if all the fluid has cleared out of her right ear. The left ear looks good but there is still fluid in the right. If it hasn't cleared up then she will have to go to an ear specialist who will puncture a hole in it to drain it. I am praying we don't have to have that done!!!

Back to the Pediatrician
We were again at the doctor's this morning for poor Anya. She has continued to run a low grade fever that only presents in the evening hours. Anya's ear infections are still pretty bad and the Augementin doesn't seem to be clearing them up. Dr. Peltz put Anya on Rocephin which is given by injection. If you could have seen Ryan's face when the doctor said Anya needed a shot in her bottom! He stood there just stunned. When the nurse came in to give Anya her shot Ryan was completely absorbed in the entire process. Poor Anya didn't find it at all entertaining and screamed. Anya will need to go back for another shot tomorow and Thursday.
Tonight her fever is gone so, I am quite relieved that the shot is working.

Vacation in Vail
Where do I start with this post? I guess from the very beginning...
The day before we left for Vail I took the kids to the pediatrician because Ryan had a pretty bad cough. Ryan tested positive for RSV which meant according to the doctor that Anya was sure to get it. I couldn't believe this as the kids have been healthy all winter and the day before we go on vacation they get sick?! She gave us a prescription for a nebrulizer and said we should be fine to go to Vail. Axel and I pondered over going all evening and came to the decision to just go. So, we left for Vail to meet up with Axel's family. On the flight Ryan threw up upon landing and claimed his tummy hurt. Thankfully, I was able to get a sick bag to him in time and his clothing was spared. After we got off the flight we had another 2 hour drive to Vail. I sat in the back of the suv we rented because Ryan was feeling quite sick.
Ryan had an awful cough during our entire stay and never got to go to ski school. He begged us to take him on the Gondola so, we thought that would be alright. Unfortunately, the air was so cold it made his coughing all the worse and he threw up right on the main street in Vail. The shop owners were so wonderful bringing water and napkins to me.
Anya started getting sick soon after we got there. She was coughing just as bad as Ryan. However, Anya took a turn for the worst when she started a low-grade fever. She was absolutely miserable. Poor baby! You can see in the second picture how awful she looked.
Ryan and Anya were not the only ones to have to stay home. Steffen ended up in the Vail hospital after attempting a jump and falling hard enough to cause a concussion and broken nose! Poor guy!
On our way home, Anya slept the entire ride in the car and then on the flight. Ryan slept most of the flight.
We took them to the pedi the next day. Ryan has a minor ear infection and sinus infection and was put on Amoxicillin. Anya has a double ear infection and one ear was so bad that it was blistering! She is on Augmentin.
So, the ski vacation didn't go according to plan but at least Axel got to do some skiing and the kids got to see Oma, Opa, Uncle Kiki, and Uncle Steffen.
Vail was absolutely beautiful and I really do hope to go back some day when the kids are older to ski and enjoy the city!
